Rubin pick up from where they left off

FC Rubin Kazan opened their Premier-Liga title defence with a 2-0 victory over FC Lokomotiv Moskva. Rubin, who drew 1-1 with VfL Wolfsburg in the UEFA Europa League round of 16 this week, were made to work hard for their win, Andrei Gorbanets and Aleksandr Bukharov striking the decisive blows in the closing three minutes. FC Dinamo Moskva and FC Terek Grozny also began their respective campaigns with a win, as did FC Zenit St. Petersburg and FC Tom Tomsk on Saturday and PFC CSKA Moskva on Friday.
