Livingston FC missed out on the opportunity of leapfrogging Rangers FC into second place in Scotland with a 0-0 draw at Dundee United FC.
Wilson goes close
A win at the Tannadice Park stadium would have seen the newly-promoted side overhaul the Glasgow giants and take second spot in the Scottish Premier League, and they were within inches of grabbing all three points when Barry Wilson's drive crashed into United's goalpost after 73 minutes.
Rangers yet to play
However, the draw leaves them just behind Rangers who have the opportunity to pull clear when they take on Heart of Midlothian FC at the Ibrox stadium on Sunday.
Hibernian rue error
Hearts' Edinburgh rivals Hibernian FC let two points slip at Easter Road as they allowed Motherwell FC to score a late equaliser. John O'Neil had given Hibernian a seventh-minute lead, but Stuart Elliott was allowed to drift into their penalty area unmarked to stab home an equaliser minutes from full time.
Goals from Argentinian Juan Sara and Georgian Temuri Ketsbaia saw Dundee FC secure all three points at the McDiarmid Park stadium to leave Saint Johnstone FC rooted to the foot of the table while two late goals earned Kilmarnock FC a 3-1 win against Aberdeen FC.
