Motherwell FC have confirmed the contract for striker David Kelly has been terminated by mutual consent.
The former Republic of Ireland international was involved in an alleged bust-up with manager Eric Black and his assistant Terry Butcher after the Scottish Cup defeat at Dunfermline Athletic FC. But, prior to a disciplinary hearing on Monday, both parties agreed on a contract termination.
"A compromise agreement has resulted from a meeting held today prior to the convening of a disciplinary hearing," a club statement read. "Mr David Kelly's contract as a player with Motherwell Football Club has been terminated by mutual consent."
The 36-year-old joined the club in the summer on a one-year contract after a career with Walsall FC, West Ham United FC, Leicester City FC, Newcastle United FC, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, Sunderland AFC, Tranmere Rovers FC and Sheffield United FC.
