Dundee United leave it late

Dundee United FC beat Hamilton Academical FC 4-1 to reach the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.

Scottish Premier League side Dundee United FC booked their place in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup with a 4-0 home win against Hamilton Academical FC on Monday night.

Amazing finale
Second division Hamilton appeared to have held their hosts to a goalless stalemate but, in an amazing finale, United scored four goals in the final seven minutes to progress. United now host first division Ayr United FC in the fifth round of the competition.

Flattering scoreline
David Winters finally broke through a resilient Hamilton defence and opened the scoring in the 83rd minute, before Steven Thompson gave the top flight side a two-goal cushion with five minutes remaining. Hasney Aljofree put the result beyond doubt with three minutes left on the clock and Thompson added his second of the night to give the final scoreline a flattering look.
