Dundee ousted by top-flight hopefuls

Partick Thistle FC stunned Dundee FC in their Scottish Cup fourth-round replay, winning 2-1.

Partick Thistle FC stunned Scottish Premier League side Dundee FC with a late winner to secure a 2-1 victory in their Scottish Cup fourth-round replay.

Gibson the hero
Andrew Gibson was the hero for Partick, who are top of the first division, firing the ball past the despairing dive of Julian Speroni three minutes from time following a fine centre from Derek Fleming. The goal came two minutes after Dundee's Chinese international defender Fan Zhiyi had been sent off for a second yellow card.

Britton opener
The Dens Park crowd were silenced on 24 minutes when Gerry Britton opened the scoring for Partick with a delicate chip following a neat one-two with Paul Walker. Juan Sara equalised for Dundee from the spot ten minutes after the break after he was fouled by Stephen Craiga, but the goal was not enough for Ivano Bonetti's side.
