Dundee United FC were held at home by lowly Ayr United FC in the Scottish FA Cup on Saturday.
McGinlay holds hosts at bay
The Scottish Premier League side twice took the lead at Tannadice Park but had to settle for a 2-2 draw after a 74th-minute goal from Pat McGinlay levelled the scores.
David Winters had given United a seventh minute-lead, but Ayr struck back almost immediately through Scott Crabbe. Craig Easton gave the home side the lead again in the fifth-round tie, but United could not hold on for victory.
Stalemate at Firhill Park
In the day’s other game, lower league sides Partick Thistle FC and Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC also shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Firhill Park.
More Cup action
Sunday sees Rangers FC travel to Forfar Athletic FC but the tie of the round is on Monday as league-leaders Celtic FC travel to Aberdeen FC.
