FK Cukaricki have sacked Zeljko Simovic and replaced him with his assistant Borislav Raduka.
Six go down
Club president Aleksandar Mihailovic took the decision after Wednesday's 2-1 home defeat by FK Obrenovac. With six teams being relegated this season in the Prva Savezna Liga, Cukaricki find themselves eight points adrift from safety with only four matches left to play.
"I must change something and the coach is first," said Mihailovic. "This is a bad situation for us and we must think about the future. I still think we have a chance of staying up and we must believe it. Simovic did not achieve the results so he has to go."
Sad to leave
The outgoing coach was disappointed by the decision. "I gave my all for the club, but it is not enough," Simovic said. "I hope to stay with the club and help but we will see what happens."
Raduka, who has taken charge of the club for the second time, is well aware of the task facing him but believes there is still a hope of avoiding the drop. "I must go to training, work and have optimism in my head," he said. "Cukaricki have a quality team and there is hope for all of us."
