Grasshopper-Club have announced that coach Hans-Peter Zaugg will leave the club at the end of the season to be replaced by FC St. Gallen coach Marcel Koller.
Out of UEFA Cup
Zaugg led Grasshoppers to the Swiss first division title last season, his first full campaign in charge at the Zurich-based club. But this campaign, they exited the UEFA Cup at the third-round stage and are six points adrift of league leaders FC Basel in third place.
'Spirited and disciplined'
The club said they would not be renewing Zaugg's contract when it runs out in June 2002 but thanked him for the "spirited and disciplined leadership" he showed during last season's championship-winning season, but said that the team had failed to meet the targets set by the club this season.
Koller, who had been widely tipped by the Swiss media as Zaugg's successor, steered unfashionable St. Gallen to the league title in 2000. He will have a three-year contract on taking over at the Hardturm stadium.
