Bernard Challandes has returned to the hot seat at BSC Young Boys, 24 hours after the Berne outfit parted company with Martin Rueda.
Rueda departed after Sunday's 2-0 home defeat by bottom club Servette FC left them sixth in the Swiss Super League, eight points adrift of FC Sion in fourth and a UEFA Europa League place. Challandes takes the reins for the remaining ten games charged with bridging that gap.
"I'm positive that Bernard can give the team a new sense of ambition for the rest of the season," said sporting director Fredy Bickel. Bickel knows what he is getting: he worked with the 61-year-old at FC Zürich from 2007 to 2010, winning the 2009 title and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League group stage.
Challandes also has a past with Young Boys, where he was coach from 1994 to 1995. He was in charge of canton rivals FC Thun until November, and says: "I'm highly motivated and I hope that together with the team and the coaching staff I can help improve the club's position."
