Christoph Daum has reached an agreement with Bursaspor to become the Turkish Super League club's coach.
The 59-year-old will complete the formalities of his appointment when he arrives in Bursa on Wednesday. Daum will succeed Hikmet Karaman, who was dismissed following an emergency board meeting to discuss the Crocs' 3-0 home defeat last Thursday by FK Vojvodina in the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round (a 5-2 aggregate loss).
Given that he had two spells in charge of both Beşiktaş JK (1994–96, 2000–02) and Fenerbahçe SK (2003–06, 2009–10), Bursaspor will be Daum's third posting in the Turkish top flight. Daum led Beşiktaş to the league title in 1994/95 and the Yellow Canaries to back-to-back championships in 2003/04 and 2004/05.
The former 1. FC Köln, VfB Stuttgart, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, FK Austria Wien and Eintracht Frankfurt boss was most recently at the helm of Club Brugge KV. He left Club Brugge citing family reasons in summer 2012 after guiding them to a runners-up finish in his only campaign in the dugout.
Bursaspor visit Eskişehirspor on Sunday in their first game of the 2013/14 Super League season.
