Dnipro bid farewell to coach Ramos

Juande Ramos is to leave FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk after four successful years in Ukraine, with the club thanking the Spanish coach for having created a team that "made the fans happy".

Juande Ramos is to leave FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk when his contract expires on 30 June despite having earned them a qualifying place for the UEFA Champions League for the first time.

"Juande Ramos was offered a new deal, but after some consideration, the coach rejected it, citing his family's reluctance to stay in Ukraine," reads a club statement. "Dnipro thank Juande Ramos for a fruitful co-operation and wish him the best of luck. The team showed bright performances under him and made the fans happy. Finishing runners-up under his guidance and winning a place in UEFA Champions League qualifying was a big achievement."

The former Sevilla FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC and Real Madrid CF boss has spent four years at Dnipro, with the 59-year-old's side finishing fourth three times before ending the 2013/14 campaign as runners-up – their best result since 1992/93. Having guided CD Logroñés and Rayo Vallecano de Madrid into the Spanish top-flight in 1995/96 and 1998/99 respectively, Ramos led Sevilla to two UEFA Cup wins, and won the English League Cup with Tottenham before short spells with Real Madrid and PFC CSKA Moskva.
