TNS's Welsh dominance goes on

The New Saints FC may have sealed a record-equalling seventh Welsh Premier League title but director of football Craig Harrison is disappointed that they will not complete a treble.

The New Saints FC may have sealed a record-equalling seventh Welsh Premier League title – but director of football Craig Harrison is disappointed they will not complete a treble this season.

Saturday's 3-0 home victory over Carmarthen Town AFC assured them of retaining their crown with four matches to play. It is their sixth title in nine seasons and draws them level with Barry Town FC who reigned supreme between 1995 and 2003, their run of success only interrupted in 1999/2000 by TNS's first championship.

Harrison looked forward to further success in the future when he said: "There is more to come from this young squad which, with the combination of the senior players, has a fantastic balance."

The Oswestry club, who will compete in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round next term, are aiming to make it a double for a second year in a row. They face Bangor City FC next weekend in the Welsh Cup semi-finals and Harrison added: "There is no hiding from it, we want the double. In fact, I was disappointed we didn't land the treble."

TNS have been on a fantastic run since 24 November when they last lost in the league, 3-0 against Carmarthen. Of their 13 subsequent games they have won 11 and drawn two.
