France coach Roger Lemerre received the Legion of Honour from French president Jacques Chirac on Monday as a reward for his success with the national team.

Euro 2000™ triumph
Lemerre, who led the country in their triumphant Euro 2000™ campaign and at last summer's FIFA Confederations Cup success, will be in charge of Les Bleus at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan.

'A great honour'
Claude Simonet, the French Football Federation (FFF) president, said: "This is a great honour for us to have someone decorated with the Legion of Honour. This proves that French football has done great things for the French nation."
