Moreno bound for Bolton

Bolton Wanderers FC have signed the Spanish striker Javi Moreno on loan from Club Atlético de Madrid.

Bolton Wanderers FC will sign Spanish international Javi Moreno on loan for the rest of the season, subject to the Club Atlético de Madrid striker passing a medical.

International experience
Bolton have agreed terms with the Atlético forward, who has scored once in five international appearances for Spain and who will move to the Reebok stadium until the end of the 2003/04 campaign.

UEFA Cup goals
The Valencia-born striker achieved prominence in the 2000/01 season, scoring 22 times in 32 league games and helping Deportivo Alavés to reach the UEFA Cup final where they lost 5-4 to Liverpool FC despite Moreno scoring twice.

Limited opportunities
Moreno moved to AC Milan the following season but he struggled to settle in Italy and returned to Spain to join Atlético. However, with Fernando Torres and Demis Nikolaidis leading the team's attack, he found his first-team opportunities limited.
