AC Perugia have sold their captain Giovanni Tedesco to Serie B side Genoa 1893.

Fans' favourite
The 31-year-old midfield player, who scored 24 goals in 154 matches during six seasons at the Renato Curi stadium, was a real fans' favourite at Perugia. He has signed a contract until 2006 with Genoa.

Southampton sign keeper
Southampton FC have added a new goalkeeper to their squad, signing Paul Smith from Brentford FC in a €725,000 deal. The 24-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half year contract with the English Premiership club.

Cup postponement
Staying in England, Bolton Wanderers FC will have to wait to discover whom their opponents will be in the English League Cup final on 29 February after the second leg of the semi-final between Middlesbrough FC and Arsenal FC, scheduled to be played tonight, was postponed. The game will now take place on 3 February.

Romanian reshuffle
FC Dinamo Bucuresti have signed Leonard Naidin from FC Oradea on a five-year contract. Dinamo had been prepared to wait until the end of the season before moving for Naidin but have acted now following the uncertainty over their own midfield player, Dan Alexa, who has been linked with FC Spartak Moskva. Also in Romania, FC Farul Constanta have signed striker Mihai Gurita from CS Otelul Galati on a two-and-a-half year contract.

Lillestrøm shore up defence
Nigeria defender Romanus Orjinta has joined Norwegian Premier Division side Lillestrøm SK from Enyimba. The centre-half, currently on duty at the African Cup of Nations, will replace the long-serving Torgeir Bjarmann at the centre of Lillestrøm's defence, following his retirement.

Swede move
Canadian international midfield player Atiba Hutchinson has swapped Swedish clubs, moving from Östers IF to Helsingborgs IF. The 20-year-old Hutchinson, who scored six goals last season, has signed for three years.
