Tottenham secure Defoe transfer

Tottenham Hotspur FC have signed West Ham United FC's England striker Jermain Defoe for €10.2m.
Tottenham Hotspur FC have signed the English international striker Jermain Defoe from West Ham United FC in a €10.2m transfer that will take centre-forward Bobby Zamora in the opposite direction.

Last-minute deal
Spurs completed a deal for the 21-year-old Defoe just before the transfer window closed at 18.00CET on Monday afternoon. Defoe had been linked with a move to Arsenal FC and Manchester United FC, but instead heads to White Hart Lane. Zamora, meanwhile, steps down a division to join West Ham, only six months after the 23-year-old signed for the north London club.
