AFC Ajax have announced the signing of Greek international Ioannis Anastasiou from Roda JC.

AFC Ajax coach Ronaldo Koeman has strengthened his squad with the signing of Greek international Ioannis Anastasiou from Roda JC.

Five caps
The 30-year-old striker has signed a one-and-a-half year contract, and can move as the Dutch transfer deadline is not until March. He has been capped five times - all as substitute - by Greece. Ajax hope to have Anastasiou eligible to play on Sunday against PSV Eindhoven. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wesley Sonck, Rafael van der Vaart and Jari Litmanen are all currently on the sidelines.

'Very good striker'
Ajax general manager Arie van Eijde said: "This is not a panic signing. We think Anastasiou is a very good striker, and are very glad he is joining us. Of course it is a good thing if he can play on Sunday."
