Clock stops on Davidovitch bid

Maccabi Haifa FC goalkeeper Nir Davidovitch's bid to set a new record for the longest unbeaten spell in Israeli football ended in failure on Saturday as his side conceded a Maor Melichson penalty 59 minutes into their 4-1 win against Hapoel Beer-Sheva FC. That saw the clock stop at 954 minutes on Davidovitch's attempt, with his goalkeeping coach Giyora Antmen still holding the record at 1,093 minutes from back in 1989. The victory was Haifa's 19th in 21 league games this season and also saw Shlomi Arbeitman score a hat-trick.
