Published: Sunday 14 March 2010, 22.20CET
Premier Liga champions FK Aktobe won the Kazakh Super Cup for the second time in three years thanks to a 2-0 defeat of cup holders FK Atyrau. Sergei Strukov opened the scoring in the closing stages of the first half before Evgeni Averchenko doubled the lead with ten minutes remaining. "We devote this victory to our supporters and to the government of our region," said Samat Smakov, the Aktobe captain. Atyrau do not have to wait long to exact revenge, however, with the teams meeting on the opening day of the 2010 season next weekend.
