Sampdoria deprived of striker Pozzi

Serie A high-fliers UC Sampdoria will be without striker Nicola Pozzi for the rest of the season after the 23-year-old suffered a knee ligament injury during Sunday's 1-1 draw at Bologna FC. The former AC Milan player and Italian Under-21 international, who has scored twice in 15 Serie A outings this term, will not undergo surgery to repair the ligament damage to his left knee but will need three months' recovery time. Sampdoria are sixth in Serie A, two points off fourth spot.
