The January transfer window has closed, with numerous clubs across the continent having taken the opportunity to strengthen their squads for the final time this season.

The European domestic transfer window has closed, with the major move being finalised late on as Fernando Torres joined Chelsea FC for a British-record fee. All signings made by clubs in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League have been covered throughout the month, while other significant moves made on deadline day can be found below.

UEFA Europa League: Liverpool FC have used the money received from Fernando Torres's record sale to Chelsea FC to help fund moves for Luis Suárez and Andy Carroll, who both arrive on five-and-a-half year contracts − full story.

Alessandro Matri has left Cagliari Calcio for Juventus on loan, though there is an option for a permanent transfer in the summer for a fee of €15.5m. The AC Milan academy product has scored 36 goals in 125 Serie A appearances for Cagliari. Matri will replace Amauri in Turin after the striker joined Parma FC for the remainder of the campaign.

Feyenoord have signed three players on loan for the rest of the season as they look to stave off relegation from the Eredivisie. Ryo Miyaichi (18, Arsenal FC), Søren Larsen (29, Toulouse FC) and Marcel Meeuwis (30, VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach) are the players concerned, while the Rotterdam club announced that Dutch Under-19 international striker Luc Castaignos, 18, will join FC Internazionale Milano in the summer. Meanwhile, Michael Lumb, signed on a season-long loan from FC Zenit St Petersburg, has moved to Aalborg BK in his native Denmark for the rest of the campaign.

RCD Deportivo La Coruña have also brought in a trio of players on loan until the end of the season.
