VfL Wolfsburg have completed the transfer of midfielder Christian Träsch from VfB Stuttgart for a reported €10m fee.
Träsch, a German international with seven caps to his name, has signed a contract until summer 2015 and is rated as "one of Germany's best defensive midfielders" by Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath.
The 23-year-old has already taken part in his first training session with the Wolves and believes his new club have ambition to match his own. "Wolfsburg have a great perspective," said Träsch. "Magath has set some high goals and I want to contribute my share. This season we want to attack the top teams in the Bundesliga."
Magath described his new arrival as "a hard running midfielder, who is very forceful both in attack and defence". Träsch, who made his Bundesliga debut for Stuttgart in February 2008, often filled in at right-back during his 83 league appearances for the Swabian outfit.
The versatile midfielder missed out on the 2010 FIFA World Cup after injuring his ankle by colliding with a perimeter fence during a training match shortly before the tournament. He featured nine times in the UEFA Europa League last season.
Germany are close to qualifying for UEFA EURO 2012 after winning all seven of their Group A matches. Joachim Löw's side are ten points clear of second-placed Belgium.
