Ivanov misses out on Bulgaria squad

Bulgaria coach Plamen Markov has left Gueorgui Ivanov out of his squad to play Croatia on Wednesday.

New Bulgaria coach Plamen Markov has left out Gueorgui Ivanov from his 18-man squad for his side’s friendly in Croatia on Wednesday.

Ivanov injury
Markov said: "Ivanov has problems with a light injury and we should not take any risks by including him in the team for Rijeka."

Yankovic debut
Markov called up seven players from the domestic championship to add to the eleven foreign-based footballers he named earlier this week. PFC Litex Lovech striker Zoran Yankovic, who is of Serbian origin and was granted Bulgarian citizenship last year, is expected to make his debut for Bulgaria. The 28-year-old player is currently the Bulgarian Professional League's top scorer with 12 goals and Markov explained: "I want to test Yankovic as I see him as a potential member of the Bulgarian team in the future."

Revised Bulgaria squad
Zdravkov, G Petkov, Pazhin, Kishishev, Markov, I Petkov, Yanchev, Topuzakov, Balakov, Peev, S Petrov, M Petkov, Berbatov, M Petrov, Yankovic, Manchev.
