Netherlands round-up: Roda on the up

Roda JC took a step away from the Eredivisie relegation zone with a 2-0 win over Willem II.

Roda JC took a confident step away from the Eredivisie relegation zone with a vital 2-0 win over Willem II despite playing for an hour with ten men.

Goal in each half
A goal in each half - from Bernard Tchoutang and Garba Lawal - was enough to secure the victory for Roda, who are now three points clear of third-bottom FC Groningen. Gregoor van Dijk was sent off for his second bookable offence after 30 minutes but Willem failed to break down a solid-looking Roda side.

Draw at the Gelredome
SBV Vitesse and FC Den Bosch settled for a share of the points after a 1-1 draw at the Gelredome stadium. A mistake from Den Bosch goalkeeper Kris Mampaey allowed Vitesse to equalise after the visitors had taken the lead. Mampaey misjudged a cross from Michel Kreek in the 34th minute, allowing Mahamadou Diarra a free header into an empty net. Fabian de Freitas had put Den Bosch in front after 20 minutes, shooting past Dragoslav Jevric after the Vitesse defence failed to close him down.

Game postponed

Elsewhere, the game between SC Heerenveen and SC Fortuna Sittard was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
