Albania round-up: Tafaj keeps Tirana on top

Alban Tafaj's goal gave SK Tirana a 1-0 Ligi e Pare win over KS Flamutari on Sunday.

A solitary goal from Alban Tafaj ensured SK Tirana took maximum points from their Sunday game with KS Flamutari to stay ahead of city rivals KS Dinamo Tirana and KS Partizani at the top of the Ligi e Pare table.

'Difficult victory'
The 1-0 win, which Tirana coach Shkelqim Muca described as "very difficult", was assured by the midfield player's strike midway through the second half. It kept them in first place despite Dinamo's 2-1 win at KS Apolonia, where victory was only sealed in the dying minutes. Gentian Lako had put the home team ahead on 55 minutes, but Daniel Xhafa levelled before a Vaske Ruko own goal four minutes from time handed Dinamo the points.

Sejdia satisfied
Dinamo coach Faruk Sejdia said: "We achieved a deserved victory against a very strong rival, but what we need to appreciate most is that it was a good game in front of a knowledgeable crowd."

Shulku makes sure
Elsewhere, third-placed Partizani were 1-0 winners at home to KS Tomori after Ilir Shulku scored the only goal of the game with just 14 minutes to play. Edi Martini's four-goal haul helped KS Vllaznia sweep aside KS Erzeni 6-0 but KS Teuta fell off the pace with their 1-0 defeat at KF Lushnja, where defender Samir Malko dented their hopes by finding the net in the 72nd minute.

Penalty winners
In the day's other games, KS Besëlidjha edged out KS Shkumbini 1-0 thanks to Xhehal Faruku's third-minute penalty and Mihal Coni hit two spot-kicks as KS Luftëtari moved off the bottom of the table with a 2-1 win over KS Bylis.
