England round-up: Arsenal force replay

Newcastle United FC and Arsenal FC must replay after a 1-1 FA Cup quarter-final draw.
Arsenal FC kept alive their hopes of a league and cup double after holding Newcastle United FC to a 1-1 draw in their FA Cup quarter-final at St James' Park on Saturday evening.

Edu opener
Arsenal, who won 2-0 on the same ground last Saturday to dent Newcastle's FA Premiership title hopes, went ahead on 14 minutes when Edu slid in front of Nikos Dabizas to touch home a low Sylvain Wiltord cross.

Arsenal hold on
Laurent Robert bounced a volley against the bar and Andy O'Brien had a header cleared off the line by Lee Dixon as Newcastle dominated the rest of the first half. Their reward finally came seven minutes into the second when Robert equalised with a low drive from the edge of the box after an Alan Shearer flick-on. Newcastle missed chances to win the match but Arsenal held on for a replay, which is scheduled for 23 March.

Leicester draw
In Saturday's only FA Premiership match, bottom side Leicester City FC ended a six-match losing streak with a home draw against Charlton Athletic FC. A Jamie Scowcroft goal on 20 minutes gave Leicester hope of only their fourth victory of the campaign but Jason Euell levelled for Charlton shortly before the break to leave Leicester 12 points adrift of the safety zone with only nine games left.
