Lazio held, wins for Udinese, Fulham and Zaragoza

S.S. Lazio missed the chance to move to within a point of third-placed SSC Napoli in Serie A on a night when Udinese Calcio, Fulham FC and Real Zaragoza triumphed.

Italy
S.S. Lazio missed the chance to move to within a point of third-placed SSC Napoli after being held to a goalless draw at Bologna FC. The UEFA Europa League contenders struggled to break down the resilient hosts and their frustration was compounded four minutes from time when Libor Kozák was shown a red card.

Earlier, Udinese Calcio moved up to eighth with a 2-0 win at UC Sampdoria. Danilo's second goal in as many Serie A outings gave the visitors an early lead before Antonio Di Natale coolly rounded the goalkeeper on 28 minutes to score his ninth of the season. Nicola Pozzi's missed penalty denied Sampdoria a route back into the game in the second half and Francesco Guidolin's men held on to claim their second away win of the campaign.

England
Fulham FC ended a seven-game winless run with a 2-1 defeat of Newcastle United FC at Craven Cottage. After three Premier League games without a goal Martin Jol's side needed just 19 minutes to take the lead thanks to Steve Sidwell's deflected strike. The hosts missed several chances to double their advantage and, although Hatem Ben Arfa equalised nine minutes after the break, the west London side were not to be denied and triumphed for the first time since 20 October thanks to Hugo Rodallega's 63rd-minute header.

Spain
In the only Spanish Liga game of the evening, Real Zaragoza secured a 2-0 win against Rayo Vallecano de Madrid to leapfrog their opponents in the table. Franco Zuculini's first goal of the season gave the visitors the lead on 21 minutes and Apoño sealed Zaragoza's third away win this term on the hour mark. Manolo Jiménez's side climb to 12th, one place above Rayo Vallecano.
