One of a trio of Croatia players who collected their 100th international caps on Wednesday night (along with Stipe Pletikosa and Darijo Srna), Australian-born Josip Šimunić elected to play for his parents' home country. He made his national-team debut against South Korea on 10 November 2001, reaching his century – aged 34 – against the same opponents. The stylish defender played at the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups as well as at UEFA EURO 2004 and UEFA EURO 2008.
