Reoch at the helm in Gibraltar

Former amateur player amd referee Desmond Reoch has begun his mandate as the new president of UEFA's newest member association, the Gibraltar Football Association (GFA).

Desmond Reoch has started his duties as the new president of UEFA's newest member association, the Gibraltar Football Association (GFA).

The GFA were granted full UEFA membership at the European body's Congress in May this year. Reoch recently retired as managing director of a leading law firm in Gibraltar. He qualified in business administration before going onto a successful professional career, and is also a qualified quality assurance auditor.

His involvement in football is extensive, having undertaken various roles as an amateur player and referee. Reoch has also been a committee member and treasurer of the Gibraltar Referees Association for seven years. He also spent 11 years as secretary of Manchester United (Gibraltar) FC and another seven years as secretary of the Gibraltar Junior Football League. He was elected vice-president of the Gibraltar Football Association (GFA) in July 2012, and was elected president of the Gibraltar Football Association in August.

"My vision and my objectives for the GFA going forward are based on strengthening the relationship between the GFA Council, the various GFA working committees and all our clubs," said Reoch. "It is essential that we work as one big team in order to meet all our objectives. We intend to be fully integrated and fully participative members of the UEFA family."
