With a brand-new look, interactive features and easy social media sharing options, the UEFA.com users' Team of the Year 2013 has received a record number of votes following its launch.
Since the poll to select your 2013 dream XI opened just a week ago the ballot has been swamped with fans who have already posted over 4.8 million votes, with 8 million page views from 1 million visitors. The 2012 edition, itself a record-breaking poll, registered 5.3 million votes across the entire month it was open.
This year, it is easier than ever share your team online, compare it with the picks of famous former players and against the selections of your friends in the application and via social media. With more than 81,000 votes cast on Twitter, and 50% of voters arriving at the Team of the Year site via social media platforms such as UEFA.com's Facebook, Twitter and Google+ pages, fans from 218 countries have relished discussing and debating their nominations across the web.
Live voting trends, a history section of the annual vote – now in its 13th edition – and the ability to compare players' individual statistics over the course of the year have also attracted fans, but who have they been voting for?
The popular vote
With Cristiano Ronaldo in red-hot form as the Portugal forward hopes to bag a place in the final selection, it is perhaps no surprise that 13% of the votes have been cast by his countrymen, the highest percentage from any nation. Germany (10%) and Poland (7%), both with national-team players shortlisted, follow closely behind while fourth on the list comes the United States.
Be sure to choose your 2013 Team of the Year before the 9 January deadline.
