French League Cup
Zlatan Ibrahimović struck twice as Paris Saint-Germain booked their place in the French League Cup final with a 2-1 defeat of FC Nantes at the Stade de la Beaujoire. Taking receipt of Rémy Riou's errant clearance just five minutes in, the Sweden striker sensationally returned the ball over the goalkeeper first time from 30 metres.
Nantes midfielder Olivier Veigneau thought he had forced extra time when he restored parity with nine minutes remaining, but Ibrahimović had other ideas, heading in from close range at the death. Laurent Blanc's side will face either Olympique Lyonnais or ES Troyes AC, who meet on Wednesday, in the decider.
Udinese Calcio edged ACF Fiorentina 2-1 in their Coppa Italia semi-final opener. Antonio Di Natale tapped in at the back post following a swift counterattack eight minutes before Fiorentina midfielder Juan Vargas sent a thunderous left-footed drive beyond Simone Scuffet. However, a thumping effort from Luis Muriel late in the second half swung the pendulum back in Udinese's favour ahead of the 11 February decider. AS Roma lock horns with SSC Napoli in Wednesday's second semi-final first leg.
Third-tier Sheffield United FC dug deep to shock Fulham FC 1-0 after extra time and reach the last 16 of the FA Cup. Both teams were restricted to speculative efforts in this fourth-round replay at Craven Cottage, before Shaun Miller turned Harry Maguire's header in at the back post in the 120th minute. The Blades will now tackle either Nottingham Forest FC or Preston North End FC in the next round.
