Marama Vahirua has ended a six-year association with FC Nantes Atlantique to join OGC Nice for €500,000.

'In my heart'
The 24-year-old striker scored 28 goals in 111 games for Nantes, including seven Ligue 1 strikes last term. "Nantes is in my heart, but I needed a new challenge," said the Tahitian, who signed a three-year contract.

Intertoto Cup
Nice were knocked out of the UEFA Intertoto Cup by Esbjerg fB of Denmark last weekend, while Nantes enter the competition at the third-round stage on Sunday, when they play Cork City FC. Vahirua is the fifth key Nantes player to leave La Beaujoire this summer.
