Philipou joins Olympiakos

Olympiakos Nicosia FC have signed Cyprus defender Philipos Philipou from Apollon Limassol FC.

Olympiakos Nicosia FC have started their preparations for next season by signing Cypriot international defender Philipos Philipou from Apollon Limassol FC.

Sturdy performances
The 27-year-old Philipou caught the eye of many clubs around the island last season with his performances against AFC Ajax in the UEFA Cup first round and for Cyprus in their 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Philipou, who is one of the few attack-minded defenders in Cyprus, played a vital role in his side's Cypriot Cup triumph last season.

Nicolaou joins the pack
The Nicosia club have also reinforced their attack by signing Doxa Katokopia FC's Nicos Nicolaou. The 23-year-old has been consistent all season despite his side being relegated to the second division. Both players have signed five-year contracts with the option of leaving after three years.
