Switzerland round-up: Basel clear at the top

An own goal by Servette FC's Hilton gifted FC Basel a 3-2 win on Sunday.

An own goal by Servette FC's Brazilian defender Hilton gifted FC Basel a 3-2 win at the Saint Jakob stadium on Sunday.

Frei opener
Alexander Frei and Hilton da Silva had twice put the visitors in front as the Geneva team dominated the match, but Ivan Ergic and Christian Gimenez levelled the scores on each occasion. With just two minutes remaining, the unfortunate Hilton put through his own goal to hand Basel victory.

First title
Basel are now seven points clear of second-placed Grasshopper-Club as they close on their first title in 22 years.

St. Gallen win
FC St. Gallen registered their first win since October last year as they overcame BSC Young Boys 3-1 thanks to two goals from Ionel Gane and one from Pascal Jenny. FC Zürich slumped to a 2-0 defeat against FC Lugano.
