Sheriff claim Super Cup

Champions FC Sheriff Tiraspol won the second Moldovan Super Cup by beating CSF Zimbru Chisinau 1-0.
FC Sheriff Tiraspol won the second Moldovan Super Cup by beating CSF Zimbru Chisinau 1-0 yesterday.

Repeat match
The match was a repeat of last year's inaugural edition and then as now Sheriff were the winners. The reigning champions owed their victory in an even contest to a second-half goal by Alberto Blanco.

Blanco winner
Blanco struck on 68 minutes, beating goalkeeper Ionut Irimia to take advantage of a defensive lapse. It was the first competitive game of the season for cup holders Zimbru, while Sheriff had already played four times in the UEFA Champions League, where they lost in the second qualifying round to Rosenborg BK.
