Hertha BSC Berlin have signed Polish international Bartosz Karwan from Legia Warszawa.

Competition from Schalke
Hertha overcame competition from 1. Bundesliga rivals FC Schalke 04 to bring the 26-year-old midfield player to the Olympiastadion for €500,000. The transfer fee had been a condition of the player's recent contract extension with Legia. "Bartosz Karwan will be playing for us as from 1 July," confirmed Hertha general manager Dieter Hoeness.
