FC Girondins de Bordeaux have taken Nigerian international Kalu Uche on loan from Wisla Kraków.

Permanent option
The 21-year-old midfield player has moved on a one-year deal with the option of a permanent transfer from the Polish champions at the end of the season. Bordeaux said Uche would "assist Juan Pablo Francia, Camel Meriem and [curently sidelined] Albert Riera in creating attacks".

Long suspension
Last season Uche was suspended for six months by Wisla for refusing to play in a UEFA Champions League second qualifying round tie against Omonia AC, but he was reinstated in the squad in January.

Champions League exit
Bordeaux missed out on European football this season, while Uche played in the first leg of Wisla's Champions League third qualifying round tie against Real Madrid CF. Their 5-1 aggregate defeat leaves them with a UEFA Cup first-round tie against FC Dinamo Tbilisi.
