Kjell Inge Olsen will replace Benny Lennartsson as coach of Viking FK at the end of the current Tippeligaen season.
 
New generation
"We have put emphasis on the personal qualities in the selection of the new coach," Viking secretary Bjarne Berntsen said. "There is a new generation of young coaches who are eager to succeed and Kjell Inge is the biggest coaching talent within the district. Therefore he deserves to be given this chance."
 
Disappointing season
Viking announced on Friday that they would not extend the contract of their Swedish coach following a disappointing string of results which have seen the Stavanger-based club drop to sixth place in the Norwegian top flight, nine points behind leaders SFK Lyn.
 
Summer break
Lennartsson now has a three-week period in which to recharge both his and the players' batteries as the Tippeligaen is currently on a summer break which will last until 21 July.
