France midfield player Youri Djorkaeff, who steered Bolton Wanderers FC away from FA Premiership relegation last season, has signed a new two-year contract.
Helps Bolton avoid relegation
The 34-year-old FIFA World Cup winner, who had previously lost his place at German 1. Bundesliga side 1. FC Kaiserslautern, joined Bolton in February in a deal lasting until the end of the season. His four goals in 12 games, plus a series of assists, helped Bolton arrest their slide towards the relegation zone.
Signing subject to medical
Bolton said in a statement on Friday that Djorkaeff, who helped France win EURO 2000™ as well as the 1998 World Cup, had signed a two-year deal subject to passing a medical. The club will hold a news conference at 1200CET.
