'Looking forward'
Johnsen joins Vålerenga after a brief spell at Newcastle United FC, and the 35-year-old is excited by this new challenge back in his native country. "I am really looking forward to playing for Vålerenga, and see us challenging for the league title this year," he said.
Champions League winner
Johnsen, who was capped 61 times by Norway, last played in his homeland for Lillestrøm SK in 1995. The highlight of his club career came in 1999 when he was a member of Manchester United FC's UEFA Champions League-winning team. He also counts Besiktas JK and Aston Villa FC among his former sides.
