Croatia round-up: Hajduk top of the pile

HNK Hajduk Split are top of the Croatian Prva HNL after an exciting weekend of action.

HNK Hajduk Split are top of the Croatian Prva HNL after securing their second successive win of the season with a late 2-1 home success against HNK Rijeka.

Hajduk comeback
Hajduk found themselves trailing to Goran Brajkovic's 42nd-minute goal and struggled to contain a boisterous Rijeka attack. But just as they did against NK Varteks last week, Hajduk fought back when Mario Carevic equalised in the 58th minute. They went on to clinch victory in the dying seconds of the match by the goal from Dean Racunica.

Zagreb third
Defending champions NK Zagreb moved up to third place in the standings with a 1-0 victory over Varteks, as Dalibor Poldrugac struck on 62 minutes to seal the win.

Zadar held
Elsewhere, NK Zadarkomerc and HNK Šibenik played out a goalless draw, while NK Pomorac and NK Kamen Ingrad Velika drew 1-1.

Dinamo back on track
Sunday's action saw NK Dinamo Zagreb record their first victory of the new season in stunning fashion tonight with a 5-1 demolition of NK Osijek. The home side provided stubborn resistance in the first half but Dinamo finally broke through their defence on the stroke of half-time when Dario Zahora opened the scoring.

Remarkable victory
In the night's other played tonight, NK Slaven Belupo threw away a two-goal advantage as HNK Cibalia escaped with a remarkable 3-2 victory.
