Rivaldo scored twice as Olympiacos CFP won the Greek Cup on Saturday with a 3-0 victory against Aris Thessaloniki FC. Dusan Bajevic’s side struck three times in the second half to secure the club's 21st cup triumph their first since 1999.
Olympiacos enjoyed the majority of possession in the first half, but were unable to find the finishing touch. Aris defended well in numbers and could even have taken the lead on 33 minutes when a cross shot from Konstantinos Kallimanis was blocked by Olympiacos goalkeeper Antonios Nikopolidis.
Aris had another excellent chance five minutes into the second-half. Ioakim Beniskos found himself one-on-one with Nikopolidis but the goalkeeper pulled off a fine save. Olympiacos started to improve following the introduction of substitutes Giovanni da Silva and Nery Alberto Castillo and soon took the lead.
Captain Predrag Djordjevic opened the scoing from the penalty spot in the 56th minute after Giovanni had been brought down in the area by Georgios Koltsidas. On 70 minutes Rivaldo doubled the lead when he struck with a curling shot from outside the box.
The Brazilian added his second in the final minute when he fired in left-footed from close range. Olympiacos only need a win in their final league game next Wednesday, against Iraklis FC in Thessaloniki, to secure the domestic double.
