Troussier takes leave of Marseille

Olympique de Marseille have sacked coach Philippe Troussier after their fifth-place finish in Ligue 1.
Olympique de Marseille, who missed out on qualifying for either the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Cup this season, have sacked their coach Philippe Troussier.

Decision announced
Marseille finished fifth in Ligue 1 despite long being in contention for the title, and in mid-July, will enter the UEFA Intertoto Cup third round. Club president Pape Diouf said: "Philippe Troussier has reached the end of his journey with us. I thanked him for everything he did with us this season." Troussier took charge in late November.

Diouf role extended
The club board has also decided to extend Diouf's role. The former journalist said: "From being board president, I become president of the whole club." José Anigo has been named as sports manager.
