Zokora signs on for St Etienne

AS Saint-Etienne continue to plan for the UEFA Intertoto Cup by handing Didier Zokora a new one-year contract.
French UEFA Intertoto Cup contenders AS Saint-Etienne have continued their preparations for next season by handing Didier Zokora a new one-year contract.

Key man
The 24-year-old defensive midfielder was a key man in the club's excellent first season back in Ligue 1, playing 35 times as they finished sixth in the table. The Ivorian international arrived at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard last summer from Belgian side KRC Genk.

European hope
St Etienne will enter the Intertoto Cup in the two-legged second round, which will be played on 2/3 and 9/10 July. They will play a team from Armenia or Switzerland for a place in the third round, ahead of the semi-finals and final. Should they go all the way, they will earn a place in the 2005/06 UEFA Cup.
