Tirpan makes Korea move

Former Turkey national coach Tinaz Tirpan is to lead a team in the Korean Republic's K-League.
Former Turkey national coach Tinaz Tirpan has accepted a coaching job in the Korean Republic.

Three year absence
The 61-year-old took charge of K-League side Bucheon SK on Friday after a three-year break from football. Tirpan's last post had been with MKE Ankaragücü in 1999/00, though he is better known for his work as coach of Turkey and, in 1991, Fenerbahçe SK.

Turkish team
Tirpan is expected to earn €21,000 a month and will be assisted by former Trabzonspor captain Orhan Çikrikçi and goalkeeping coach Cemal Tosun.

Friendly relationship
Bucheon SK hope the new man will improve their situation in the K-League, where they lie third from bottom. Tirpan's move will enhance the friendship between Turkey and Korea established at the FIFA World Cup finals.

Ankara opportunity
Meanwhile, Bucheon SK have signed an agreement with Turkish club Gençlerbirligi SK over the training of promising Korean players in Ankara. According to reports, more than 500 players have applied to take part in the scheme of whom 25 will eventually travel to Turkey.
