Netherlands round-up: Chivu derails Vitesse

Cristian Chivu secured a 2-1 victory for AFC Ajax over SBV Vitesse on Sunday.

A Cristian Chivu free-kick for AFC Ajax 13 minutes from full time brought SBV Vitesse's 20-match unbeaten home run to an end in the Eredivisie on Sunday.

Amoah opener
The hosts had taken the lead in the 16th minute when Emile Mbamba crossed from the left and Matthew Amoah ghosted in to finish well. But Ajax hit back six minutes after half-time through Petri Pasanen and Romanian defender Chivu sealed the points for the visitors.

Spoils shared
Elsewhere, Willem II and NAC Breda drew 1-1, although away side NAC may feel aggrieved not to have taken all three points. They went ahead in the 23rd minute when Bart van den Eede struck, but Moerad Mghizrat levelled for the hosts 16 minutes later.

Kuijt hits back
The day's other game, between FC Twente and FC Utrecht, also ended in a 1-1 draw. Thijs Houwing gave the home side the lead after 21 minutes but Dirk Kuijt hit back six minutes later to earn Utrecht a point.
