Del Piero double seals Tripoli win

Alessandro Del Piero scored twice as Juventus FC beat Parma AC in the Italian Super Cup in Libya.
Alessandro Del Piero scored twice to give Juventus FC a 2-1 victory over Parma AC in the Italian Super Cup match played in the Libyan capital Tripoli.

That settles it
Del Piero struck the deciding goal from a Marcelo Zalayeta pass on 73 minutes, after the impressive Marco Di Vaio had equalised his first effort ten minutes earlier.

A head start
League champions Juventus and cup winners Parma had accepted an offer from Al-Saadi Gaddafi, son of the country's leader, to stage the game in Libya. The traditional curtain-raiser to the Italian season took place three weeks before the newly rescheduled Serie A campaign was due to kick-off.
