Trapattoni back in the Bundesliga

Veteran Giovanni Trapattoni will return to German football after agreeing a two-year contract with VfB Stuttgart.
Giovanni Trapattoni will return to the Bundesliga as VfB Stuttgart's new coach.

Bundesliga experience
The 66-year-old Italian, who led SL Benfica to the 2004/05 Portuguese championship and already has Bundesliga experience with FC Bayern München during the 1994/95 campaign and from 1996-98, has agreed a two-year contract at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion.

Bayern success
During his second spell at Bayern, the former Italy trainer steered Stuttgart's southern rivals to the German championship before adding the German Cup one year later. Stuttgart have been looking for a coach since the surprise departure of former German international Matthias Sammer earlier this month.

President pleased
Stuttgart president Erwin Staudt said: "We are delighted to welcome Giovanni Trapattoni to Stuttgart and we are proud that he will coach the side in the next two years. He is one of the most successful coaches in the world."
