Hejduk signs up for St. Gallen

FC St. Gallen have signed Frank Hejduk from Bayer 04 Leverkusen until the end of the season.

Swiss Nationalliga A side FC St. Gallen have signed United States international Frank Hejduk from Bayer 04 Leverkusen until the end of the season.

Surplus to requirements
Hejduk, 29, who was part of the US squad that reached the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals in June, was contracted to Leverkusen until 2003, but was considered surplus to requirements by coach Klaus Toppmöller. The fee is rumoured to be in the region of €250,000.

One-year deal
Leverkusen general manager Ilja Kaenzig said: "We have come to an agreement. He has signed a contract with St. Gallen until the end of this season." Hejduk appeared only 19 times for Leverkusen in four years, but could make his debut for St. Gallen against SR Delémont on Sunday.
