Swiss strugglers welcome Brand

Swiss first division side FC Luzern have signed German 1. Bundesliga player Christian Brand.

Swiss first division side FC Luzern have signed German midfield player Christian Brand.

Rostock move
The 30-year-old right-sided player, whose contract at 1. Bundesliga club FC Hansa Rostock was not renewed, will be available to make his Luzern debut at home to Neuchâtel Xamax FC on 11 September.

Two-year deal
Brand, who has signed a two-year deal at Luzern, previously had spells with SV Werder Bremen and VfL Wolfsburg before joining Rostock.

Difficult start
Luzern, who were only saved from relegation last season by the enforced demotion of three sides for financial reasons, have made a poor start this term that has left them second bottom in the first division, level on points with last-placed FC Aarau.
